Vybz Kartel’s “Mhm Hm” Hit 3 Million Views In Less Than A Month

Vybz Kartel single “Mhm Hm” is the hottest new single in dancehall currently and has already hit three million views in less than a month.

It’s been three weeks since Vybz Kartel drop the infectious new single and already it’s the most popular song in dancehall both in Jamaica and overseas. The track is currently clocking around a million views on YouTube per week and showing no signs of slowing down. Kartel’s team is currently shooting the visuals for the song which will arrive later this month.

“We are shooting that video now so you can expect it late October,” sources told Dancehallhiphop.com. “The video will be fun just like the single is fun and catchy. Right now ‘Mhm Hm’ is the most requested song in parties and on radios. You can say that this will be the biggest dancehall song of the year. No other have a song that gain so much traction so fast this year.”

Aidonia fans might not agree with that assessment since his single “Yeah Yeah” is also a monster hit this year and gain a lot of traction in dancehall very fast.

Listen Masicka New Hit Song “Energy”

Masicka is getting his “Energy” up before the new year because he is planning to conquer dancehall in 2018.

The Genahsyde deejay teams with J1 Production for his latest dancehall banger “Energy.” “Spliff a light the energy right / Gal a whine so the energy bright / Money nuff so the energy right / And we no new to this, we do it every night / Guns deh ya so the energy right,” Masicka deejay.

Masicka has been having a phenomenal year with a number of hit records this year. He also scored one of dancehall’s biggest single this year “InfraRed” a collaboration with Vybz Kartel. He also got some attention for a few diss records aimed at Aidonia, but that beef never materialized because the 4thGenna deejay decided not to engaged Masicka.

NotNice Speaks On Killing Of Vybz Kartel Protege

NotNice is speaking out on the killing of Vybz Kartel‘s protege Gaza Maxwell.

The former Gazanation deejay was stabbed to death last month at a studio in Springfield, St Thomas. Police officers are actively investigating the murder but have not yet made an arrest. Producer NotNice says Maxwell’s death is a big blow for him because he was someone he worked with closely in the past. “Me stress out because is somebody me used to work closely with from Gaza days, so fi hear this, and the way him dead, it messed up,” the beat maker said. “Gaza Maxwell didn’t deserve to die that way. He was a good youth.”

NotNice says that it was Vybz Kartel who lead him to work with Gaza Maxwell and the last song that they did together was “Miss You” which is a rest in piece song featured on the Eternal Riddim. After Kartel disbanded Portmore Empire in 2012, Gaza Maxwell then moved to St. Thomas to further pursue his music. “Mi nuh voice ‘fool fool’ artiste, and Kartel nah go recruit ‘fool fool’ artiste, either. And a really Kartel did bring him come as a part of the Empire,” NotNice added. “Kartel say him (Maxwell) did remind him a the Festival man, Eric Donaldson, and a so comes me get fi voice him.”

Vybz Kartel learned about Gaza Maxwell’s murder while in the hospital last month. Sources say the dancehall star is hurt by the news.

Alkaline Vs Vybz Kartel: Who Is The Real “1 Don” ?

Alkaline and Vybz Kartel are the two top rivals in dancehall currently and lately they are both fighting over the “1 Don” moniker.

Over the past few years, Alkaline has called himself other monikers like Young Lawd and Torch, while Vybz Kartel called himself The Teacher and Worl’Boss. Now both deejays are referring to themselves as the 1 Don of dancehall. The term one done means that you are the top artist in the genre currently and fans of both sides will say that their artist is the leading act.

Vybz Kartel released a new single “Don’t Come Back” last week where he deejays about being the only one done in dancehall. “One don one don that’s me / Kartel, Worl’ Boss or Teach / Run street whether black or bleach / Or if me say be my first G / Me stop tell girls ’bout faithful / ‘Cause they will do what they want / But since we broke up, I’m so strong,” Kartel deejay. The last two lines are believed to be a shot at his baby mama.

Alkaline then posted a photo of himself in the studio on Instagram over the weekend which he captioned “1 Don.”

Since the start of the year, both Alkaline and Vybz Kartel have released diss tracks against each other but not on the level of the Gully/Gaza feud of the mid-2000s. Kartel’s camp has also been very vocal about Alkaline imitating some of the deejay’s style and using shock-value to gain more notoriety like skin bleaching, controversial lyrics, and the infamous eyeball tattoo which turns out to be fake.

Since breaking onto the scene in 2013, Alkaline has made a name for himself in dancehall with a vast catalog of hit songs. Although his musical catalog is nowhere near as large of Vybz Kartel’s, Alkaline name often arrives in conversation with other top dancehall acts like Vybz Kartel, Mavado, and Popcaan.

Watch Vybz Kartel In Prison In Busta Rhymes & Tory Lanez “Girlfriend” video

Busta Rhymes drop the video for his Vybz Kartel and Tory Lanez-assisted single “Girlfriend.”

This is perhaps the first time that Vybz Kartel is making a live appearance in a music video since his arrest in 2011. The world has been waiting for this moment and it’s finally here thanks to Busta Rhymes. The video features cameos from a bunch of local Jamaican dancehall celebrities like Beenie Man, Foota Hype, Junior Reid, Spice, and Bounty Killer.

The cut was directed by Benny Boom and Busta Rhymes and starts out with Beenie Man picking up the hip-hop legend at the airport with his fleet of luxury vehicles. Busta then link up with his crew on a yacht and hit the Jamaican waters. The rapper then link up with some dancehall godfathers before visiting Vybz Kartel at the maximum security Tower Street Prison, aka GP. The cut features the incarcerated dancehall star behind bars while delivering a killer verse. Everyone is wondering how Busta Rhymes manage to get that cut, still a mystery, but this is Jamaica.

Busta then left from the prison and link up Foota Hype party in Kingston with Tory Lanez and the rest of the dancehall crew, including Spice, Bounty Killer, Ninja Man, and Junior Reid. The single “Girlfriend” was released over the summer on Conglomerate Entertainment and Epic Records labels.

Was Vybz Kartel Poisoned In Prison? Illness More Serious Than Reported

Vybz Kartel kidney infection is much more serious that we previously reported and some people in his circle are saying that he might have been poisoned in prison.

The “Fever” deejay has been hospitalized for a week now with a severe case of kidney infection. Sources close to the deejay’s family told DancehallHipHop that doctors have been running numerous tests on him to get to the bottom of his sickness. “They are still running tests on him, they did blood test and a number of other tests, so we are now waiting to hear the results,” sources said.

“He is complaining about feeling a lot of pain, but he is getting pain killers,” sources added. We’re told that his family particularly his wife and kids are very worried about his health because this is the first time that he has ever been this sick. “Everyone is worried because it seems like his condition is much worst than what they are telling, it’s like the doctors are hiding something from us,” our source said. “Kartel never had a kidney problem before so right now we are even wondering if someone poisoned him because they attempted to do it before.”

In 2015, prison authorities foiled a murder plot against Vybz Kartel when an inmate smuggled knives and a poisonous substance inside a section of the prison. Two bottles of an unknown poisonous substance were allegedly smuggled in by an ancillary worker inside the prison. Kartel is only a few months away from his appeal trial and his attorneys have expressed confidence in getting him released when that trial concludes. There are chatters that someone does not want the artist to be free and are actively trying to do something nefarious.

Vybz Kartel & Lorde Featured On New Major Lazer Track [Listen]

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel and pop singer Lorde is featured on a new single from Major Lazer.

The new Major Lazer track was previewed on Lazer Sound radio show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 this week and you can tell that it will be another dancehall banger. You can hear Lorde’s distinct vocals over a retro dancehall beat. She sampled Jamaican legend Yellowman’s 1984 classic “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt.” Vybz Kartel’s vocals wasn’t in the preview, but you can see his name listed which means he will be on the full version of the single.

Kartel and Major Lazer are longtime collaborators and have in the past worked on some big hits. There was once a time on Twitter when Lorde told Diplo on Twitter that his penis was tiny, but it seems the two have put those differences aside and are now making music together. I guess we can all celebrate that moment when they make peace because now we have a potential banger from the two, and with Vybz Kartel in the mix, this will be epic.

Diplo firmed announced the single from all the way back in March of this year when he said that it’s coming but he just doesn’t know when. “I don’t know when it’s coming out, it’s pretty dope,” he said.

Listen to a preview of the upcoming single below.

Vybz Kartel Remains Hospitalized For Severe Kidney Infection

Vybz Kartel remains in the hospital while getting treatment for a severe kidney infection.

Authorities are not allowing any visitors at the moment and he is heavily guarded in a secure section of the University Hospital of the West Indies. Sources told us that his common-law wife Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson and his attorney Tom Tavares-Finson are in contact with prison officials and are getting regular updates on his condition. We’re told that he is currently in stable condition.

Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, was rushed to the hospital early Monday morning after complaining of severe pain in his side. Medical staff at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Center have been treating him since last week Wednesday but when his condition didn’t improve they took him to UWI hospital. Sources inside the Gazanation told us that everyone in his circle is very concerned about his health and overall treatment at the GP prison.

Kartel is serving a life sentence for a murder conviction and has been behind for since 2011. He is currently awaiting his highly anticipated new trial in the Court of Appeal in Jamaica. The trial kicks off in February 2018. The dancehall star and his fans are hoping that he will be freed when the case concludes.

Vybz Kartel Hospitalized For Mysterious Illness

Vybz Kartel was rushed to a hospital early this morning for a mysterious illness.

Prison officials have not released a statement on the artist’s condition, but sources confirmed with Dancehallhiphop.com that he was escorted by a heavily armed police detail to the KPH in Kingston after he started complaining that he wasn’t feeling well. Some sources are saying that he is getting treatment for a possible kidney infection and maybe suffering from dehydration. We’re told that has been getting treatment by medical staffs inside the prison but when his condition did not improve, he was taken to the hospital.

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, is serving a life sentence at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Center, also known as GP. This is the second hospitalization for him since June 2013 when he was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital after complaining of severe chest pain. Some Gazanation fans on social media are now wondering if the “Fever” deejay’s health has been declining as a result of his incarceration.

“Jamaican prisons are the worst so this is not surprising, he is just going to be there wasting away if they don’t release him,” one fan wrote. Vybz Kartel lawyers are currently preparing for his appeal trial set for February 2018. His lead attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson, says the defense is confident that the murder conviction will be overturned by the Appeal Court judges.

Vybz Kartel and three of his cronies including his Gaza protege, Shawn Storm, were convicted of murder in 2014 for the gruesome killing of their former friend Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body was never found. The prosecution presented video and audio evidence which they say linked the four men to the murder, but the defense argued that cops doctored evidence against the dancehall artists and intimidate witnesses. Kartel has maintained his innocence saying, he has nothing to do with the murder.

Alkaline Tops Vybz Kartel On YouTube

Alkaline stays ahead of Vybz Kartel on YouTube with his Vevo channel reaching a milestone 500,000 subscribers.

The two rival deejays fans have been battling each other on the airwaves and on social media over which one of them is currently the leading act in dancehall. In comparison Kartel currently has 364,000 subscribers on his Vevo channel. Sean Paul is currently the leading dancehall artists on YouTube with 700,000+ subscribers. Shaggy has just over 500,000 fans and Spice has slightly more than Vybz Kartel coming in at 384,000. Those round out the top five.

Vendetta and Gazanation fans are the rival factions in this bunch and will surely reference this piece of news during their heated debate on which artist is currently leading. So far it seems like Alkaline is winning on YouTube, but who is winning on the airwaves? This month alone, Vybz Kartel released six new singles, as well as a new music video and so far all of them, are hit-worthy.

In February this year, Vybz Kartel bagged five Youth View Awards while Alkaline walked away with three prompting some Vendetta fans to call out the YVA on social media. Gaza fans were happy with the results at that time and labeled Alkaline fans as sore losers.

Vybz Kartel Dropping Two New Songs This Week One Is A Alkaline Diss

Vybz Kartel already released five new singles since the start of September and this week we will be getting two additional new tracks including a potential Alkaline diss.

The incarcerated deejay has been quiet throughout the summer while his mega-hit “Fever” continues to make waves in the mainstream market. Clearly, he has been recording new material and was perhaps waiting for all the noise during the summer to die down before dropping some new music. Kartel is known for releasing a flood of music on the airwaves so while his new releases have slowed down, it doesn’t mean that he isn’t still recording, sources inside the Gaza told us.

“We dropping two new songs this week just and we just getting started,” sources told DHH. “One of the songs will for sure stir up some controversy but the fans always look deep into what Worl’Boss is saying in his songs that just how it always is from day one.” During the summer, some Gazanation fans started begging Vybz Kartel to release new music following a brief period of dormancy. Clearly, the Gaza boss has been listening to his fans.

Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, and his three co-convicts, Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Andre St John, and Kahira Jones, are currently awaiting their appeal trial set for February 18, 2018. His attorney, Tom Tavares-Finason has already submitted his skeletal argument to the Appeal Court judges.

NotNice Talks Vybz Kartel, Popcaan and New Alkaline Diss Track

NotNice has a lot to say about Vybz Kartel and Popcaan, as well as, his new artists recording a new Alkaline diss track.

NotNice was close friends with Vybz Kartel at one point but since their fallout in 2011, the two have not spoken to each other. The producer even said in an interview in 2014 that he will never forgive Kartel for sending his goons to take away his engineering equipment from his home studio. Speaking with Anthony Miller of ER, NotNice briefly spoke about his life after the Worl’Boss.

“It’s not like it didn’t work out with Kartel, you know Kartel have him ways and it just happened and then him end up where him ended up (prison),” NotNice said. When asked about the seized equipment he said he has more now. NotNice later produced hit songs for Alkaline before aligning himself with Popcaan whom he produced a number of hits for in recent years. According to the producer, Alkaline was the one who diss Popcaan but the Unruly boss chose to not respond. Now NotNice has a new artist, JaFrass, who is voicing an Alkaline diss record.

“JaFrass just decide that he is going to defend it,” the producer said. NotNice also spoke about critics saying that he has lost his touch.

Vybz Kartel Hit “Fever” Climbs To No. 1 On iTunes

Vybz Kartel continues to grip mainstream airwaves with “Fever” which reached number one on iTunes reggae chart.

“Fever” is one of the biggest dancehall singles this year and it has already made an impact on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The song peaked at No. 36 on the chart making it Kartel’s second single to make an entry onto Billboard over his career. Perhaps his biggest achievement in recent years was when the song took the number one spot on iTunes reggae chart last week. The song has slipped to 13th place on the chart this week but it just shows the share growth over the past few months.

Since being added to major radio stations in the U.S. earlier this year, “Fever” has grown substantially while amassing over 50 million combined views on YouTube and over 10 million streams on Apple Music. What’s even more interesting is that Vybz Kartel did it all while he has been behind bars for over six years. Vybz Kartel is already searching for his next big hit by releasing four new singles since the start of this month. Some dancehall artists are wondering how did he manage to stay so relevant half a decade after his incarceration.

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, scored his first Billboard hit with his 2009 single “Romping Shop” featuring Spice. Between 2009 and 2011, the dancehall star scored a number of hits and sparked some controversy including skin bleaching and beating up members of his Portmore Empire crew like NotNice, Black Ryno, and Gaza Kim. He even had a bitter fallout with former Vybz Rum business partner Corey Todd and even threatened him. His downfall wouldn’t come until September 2011 when he and several of his cronies were arrested in a massive police operation in Kingston. He was slapped with two murder charges a short time after and although he was exonerated of one of those charges, he was convicted of the second murder charge during a lengthy trial in 2014 along with three others including his protege Shawn Storm.

Kartel and his co-convicts have appealed the murder conviction and are now awaiting their appeal case set for February next year.

Gaza Kim Talks Being Beaten By Vybz Kartel Cronies, Rape & Depression

Kym Hamilton, formerly known as Gaza Kim, has opened up about being beaten by Vybz Kartel cronies and going into a state of depression since then.

Gaza Kim was once one of the fastest rising dancehall artist inside Vybz Kartel’s now disbanded Portmore Empire, but her fast rise came to an end in 2010 when she was beaten by cronies of her mentor Vybz Kartel. In a powerful new single “God Plan,” the female dancehall deejay opened up about the assault, her depression and even having a miscarriage.

“Them tell a bag a lie pon me fi mek mi get beaten / The bugga them want to see me weaken / But mi never weak at all only mi bladder get weaken / Maybe because it was on a weekend / Friday, January 22nd, 2010 was when mi life change,” she sings. January, 22, 2010 was the date the beaten took place and the deejay left the Gaza a short time later. During an interview on NightlyFix, she opened up about her life following that incident and how it sent her into a state of depression and weight gain.

She also spoke about being raped at age 17 by a man older than her and is only recently opening up about it to her mother. Kym says that after leaving the Gaza she thought that everyone hated her, but that wasn’t the case and she recently took a photo with Jah Vinci at UIM Records studio.

Watch Vybz Kartel & Don Andre New Video “Whine Yuh Waist Suh”

Vybz Kartel and Don Andre drop a summer dancehall banger “Whine Yuh Waist Suh” last week and we already have the visuals.

With all these music videos being released, Gazanation fans are only growing more hungry for the deejay’s release from prison. “Mi love it when yo whine yo waist so / Mi love it when yo move yo hips so / Whine like a calypso, yo whine like the gal them from Puerto Rico / Mi love it when yo jiggle in it so / Mi love it when yo move yo hips so,” Vybz Kartel deejay over an infectious dancehall beat.

The cut was directed by Niculai Constantinescu and features Don Andre spitting rhymes while some banging females show off their moves around him. The video features some old clips from Vybz Kartel music video “Go Go Wine.”
